I have been first introduced to cold brew coffee 3 years ago, through coffee chain Starbucks. They have introduced their NITRO (cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen) and put them on sale back in 2015. I have fall in love with his cold coffee beverage, because honestly I can’t stand those ice cups from Tim Horton and even if McDonald’s do have (in my opinion) the best coffee from all coffee chains available in Canada, it is still not cold brew.

I think you got the fact, that I like to enjoy good quality cup of cold coffee. So after many years enjoying my coffee through expensive chain Starbucks (and yes they are way to expensive!!!) I have been contacted by KitchenAid® Canada and offered to try their very own and new KitchenAid® Cold Brew Coffee maker and give my honest opinion, how do I like their product. And as I am a big fan of their amazing products, I accepted. And I am so glad, I did. I am now enjoying the cold brew coffee every day, shine or rain.

Let me tell you, 3 main things, what I love about this coffee brew maker from KitchenAid® Canada:

  • DESIGN – Modern, sleek, stainless steel (some parts), glass body (for switching in between tea, margarita, lemonade and coffee, could leave some scent residue, but because of the glass body, you don’t have this problem. Your tea won’t have an aftertaste of coffee). As well as the small and convenient appliance, which fits perfectly in refrigerator. Hight 6.5″x width & depth 7″.
  • ECONOMY The cost of the KitchenAid cold brew maker can vary from $99.00 -$149.00 depending on shops and specials. But you need to think, that every visit at Starbucks medium coffee cost you $5.00 so only in 20 days your coffee brew maker is not only paid off, but from the 21s day you are enjoying your cold brew coffee for less then $0.05 (five cents) a day, unbelievable right?
  • VERSATILITY – KitchenAid® cold coffee brew maker is not only for making coffee. This little (so I call) KitchenAid® bucket is so versatile, that you make cold brew tea, it is excellent for parties, you can prepare your favorite beverages, such as lemonade , for adults you can prepare margarita or Pina Colada. And most important, don’t think, that this is only seasonal maker, cold brew coffee concentrate can be simply used with hot water, which will makes your cold winter days more cheerful.

HOW TO PREPARE A COLD BREW WITH KITCHENAID® COLD BREW COFFEE MAKER

Before I will jump directly into the cold brew coffee drinks recipes, that I have developed for you, I would like to introduce a bit how to make a cold brew coffee in KitchenAid® cold brew coffee maker. To make cold brew coffee, add 250 grams of coarse ground coffee beans to the steeper. Then pour 1 litre (4 cups) of filtered water over the steeper. Allow that to bloom for a minute or two. Then add another 250 ml (1 cup) of water, making sure that all the coffee grounds are nicely soaked. Allow this mixture to steep in the Cold Brew Coffee Maker in your refrigerator for 12-24 hours (for me 16 hours was perfect). Then remove the steeper, allow it to drain well from both sides (as the instructions says) and cover with the lid. The coffee concentrate is now ready to be used. It is a concentrated coffee, so you need to dilute it. The best way to enjoy your cold brew coffee is to dilute with a 1:3 ratio of water or milk over ice. I personally prefer it 1 part of cold brew coffee concentrate, 2 parts of water and 1 part of coffee cream 15% , all this over the ice.

And because I am a food blogger and love to experiment and create a new recipes, I came out with some of my favorite beverages you could create with KitchenAid cold brew maker. And as a first cold coffee beverage I created this CINNAMON FRAPPUCCINO.

As a second cold brew recipe ingredient is lime, to recreate bubbly and citrus coffee drink such as Long Island ( no alcohol in this recipe), I opt for sparkling lime water and lime itself. I am using juice from 1 lime or more to add a sour kick. If you need to sweeten, use simple syrup (1 part of sugar and 1 part of water, simmer 1 minute and cool, then use as desired into your favorite beverages). And here is LONG ISLAND LIME BREW.

  • 1 part of cold brew coffee (concentrate)
  • 3 parts of sparkling lime water or sprite for sweetness
  • 1-2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 cup of ice cubes
  • Lime wedges and mint leaves to garnish
  1. Pour ice in tall glass. Add concentrated cold brew coffee, lime juice and pour over sparkling lime water or sprite.
  2. Garnish with lime wedges or peeled zest.

As a third cold brew recipe ingredient is lavender. I love it’s relaxing purposes, but in this case it’s a breeze to a great kick of concentrated cold brew. The beautiful scent will definitely relax you and refresh you at the same time. In this recipe I make as well simple syrup with addition of dry lavender buds (see below), but you can simply opt for lavender liqueur (with alcohol), whish is great too, if you don’t have to head to work the same morning😉. And here is the LAVENDER FRAPPUCCINO.
