Have you already thought about Christmas Eve drink? Something creamy & sweet, not too difficult and to keep you awake? Then this Coffee Truffle drink is just perfect for you!
I am a big lover of creamy, coffee, chocolatey drinks. And winter, especially Christmas is a perfect time to indulge yourself with rich and creamy drinks, like this one. It has been a tradition in our house, to prepare either cold or hot this drink, since I moved to Canada.
This Christmas Eve drink can be served hot or cold. If you decide to go with hot version, I would recommend serving it in double coffee glass mugs, those are safer, then usual stemless wine glass I mention in the recipe. You must reheat the milk and you won’t be using ice cubes in this case. I like reheating my milk in Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother it’s my favourite machine for lattes and cappuccinos. I use latte attachment and my milk is lightly frothed. Then I combine in a jar, Kahlua, espresso and chocolate sauce and add my frothed milk, stir it gently and pour into double coffee glass mugs. Garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolates.
If you are going to prepare this drink cold, follow the recipe below. It’s very simple, you will add all the ingredients (except whipped cream) into a shaker and shake it.

I wanted to have a festive look of my drink, so I used stemless wine glasses for the cold version of coffee truffle drink. And decorated the table around with real cinnamon sticks & anise start, as well as fresh rosemary. You can also add nice touch up to your drink, if you place the cinnamon sticks over the glass. Your guests can use it to stir the whipped cream. Cinnamon stick are available in any grocery store, in spices section.
This recipe calls for alcohol Kahlua, but I have already tried it with Baileys or Irish Cream and it always came out really tasty. Each alcohol has its own taste, so it will differ little in taste, but if you like more Baileys, go with Baileys.
I am adding few spoons of chocolate sauce or syrup into the drink, to highlight the Opt more for lighter version, because chocolate syrup is sweeter, then melted chocolate sauce.
I love to have a mix of shaved dark and white chocolate on the top of the whipped cream, it gives extra luscious taste to this Christmas drink. Don’t need to get special baking chocolate, use chocolate you already have at home, to prepare chocolate shaves.
Enjoy this drink responsibly!
