Let’s pump it up with chocolate coffee drink
Have you already thought about Christmas Eve drink? Something creamy & sweet, not too difficult and to keep you awake? Then this Coffee Truffle drink is just perfect for you!
I am a big fan of creamy, coffee, chocolatey drinks. And winter, especially Christmas is a perfect time to indulge yourself with rich and creamy drinks, like this one. It has been a tradition in our house, to prepare this chocolate coffee drink every Christmas.
What glasses we need for chocolate coffee drink
My preferred way to serve this chocolate coffee drink is in a stemless wine glasses, but if you would decide to serve this drink hot, then double coffee glass mugs, would be safer. I have been also serving this drink in small double walled espresso glasses. And it actually looks pretty nice for a quick shot of chocolate coffee drink.
What ingredients are needed
- Espresso or strong coffee
- Skim milk
- Chocolate sauce or syrup
- Kahlua (or Baileys)
- Whipped cream for garnish or ice cream
- Dark and white chocolate shaves
- Fine sugar for decorating glasses
- Ice cubes
I wanted to add festive look to my drink, so I have decorated the edges of the glass with fine sugar and add whipped cream on top. Of course white and dark chocolate shaves couldn’t miss. You can arrange some decoration around the serving tray or directly on the tray.
I like to useĀ real cinnamon sticks & anise start, as well as fresh rosemary. You might also place the cinnamon sticks over the glass, so your guests can use it to stir the whipped cream in the drink. You can find cinnamon sticks in your closest grocery store, in the spices section.
Should I use Kahlua or Bayleis?
I used Kahlua in this recipe, but I have already tried it with Baileys or any kind of Irish Cream and it always came out really tasty. Each alcohol has its own flavour, so it will slightly differ in taste.
What coffee to use: filtered or espresso?
I recommend espresso shot. It gives a more intense flavour of coffee and aroma. But if you don’t have an espresso machine at home, you may use strong filtered coffee or strong instant coffee. When it comes to espresso, if you do not own the classic espresso machine than a less expensive alternative would be Nespresso espresso machine.
How to make this chocolate coffee beverage
Prepare stemless glasses by running a damp paper cloth on the rims of the glasses and dip them in sugar prepared on a coffee plate.
In the shaker, combine espresso, skim milk, chocolate sauce and Kahlua (or other alternative alcohol) and ice cubes, shake well..
Pour into prepared stemless glasses and garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolates.
Optional: you can also sift a small amount of cinnamon in the top of the whipped cream.
For the hot version of this coffee drink with chocolate
I am using Nespresso Aeroccino Milk Frother to heat up milk with chocolate sauce and the alcohol Kahlua. This little frother is simply magical. Then I add this to my espresso, top with whipped cream and chocolate shaves. And voilĆ it’s done.
