My friends it’s here….yes I am talking about the flu season. Weather changes drastically from 20 C to 5 C. Extremely chilly in the morning and warm in the afternoon. We are having 2 seasons in 24 hours and this is absolutely killing your immunity system. And also mine.
But I am ready to fight! I am ready to prevent and overcome this flu and cold season. Thant transitional season, where winter jacket is OK in the morning, but in the afternoon you sweat in the car and stuck in the traffic.
I am going to share this recipe for Turmeric latte with you, which will protect you against colds and flues, any kinds of stomach problems, inflammation or arthritis. It is an antioxidant, brain booster and it fights diabetes. You might say, what is the magical formula? Simple answer, it is Turmeric spice.
Turmeric spice, what is it? Turmeric spice comes from the Turmeric plant, commonly used in Asian cuisine. It has yellowish color and is used to flavor and color curry powder, butters, cheeses and mustard. Turmeric has a warm, bitter taste.
The root of turmeric is a widely used to make medicine. It contains a yellow-colored chemical called curcumin, which is often used to color foods and cosmetics. The root of turmeric is very similar to ginger root, but it’s orange in color and the taste as well is different.
Turmeric latte is best to be consumed before bed. Not only it will have the best effect, it will also help you fall asleep. Warm soothing beverage will calm you down and you will have an easy way to fall asleep.
How to prepare or what will you need for Turmeric latte. I preferably use vanilla almond milk, which is great in taste and it’s slightly sweetened already. It also helps to masks the bitterness in turmeric spice. Black pepper is another ingredient, along with ginger, cinnamon and honey. Black pepper helps body to absorb properly the turmeric.
Cinnamon is also one of the inflammatory ingredient, which will also bring a nice scent to your warm beverage. And ginger is very well known for ages, that it boosts our immune system and I find that it add a nice kick to the whole beverage. And last but not least, to sweeten your beverage, I prefer raw honey. Nothing sooth and sweeten the best, then golden honey. As it comes to froth the milk, my preferred is Nespresso milk frother I have been having one machine for 5 years and it’s used on daily bases. I love it!
TIP: While you will be preparing your Turmeric latte, be extremely careful with the turmeric powder, because it dyes everything around. If you decide to use milk frother, froth only milk, do not froth the turmeric in the froth machine (it will color your machine and it’s messy) In this case, use half of the quantity of milk with the ingredients in a saucepan and other half of the milk froth in froth machine.
