Ingredients & substitutions
All-purpose flour: Serves as the base ingredient in the cake batter, providing structure and stability to the cake. It contributes to the texture of the cake, helping it to rise evenly and maintain its shape in the bundt pan.
Baking powder and baking soda: These are leavening agents, responsible for causing the cake to rise and become light and fluffy. Baking powder reacts with moisture and heat to produce carbon dioxide gas, while baking soda requires an acid (such as buttermilk) to activate its leavening properties.
Salt: Enhances the flavour of the cake by balancing the sweetness of the other ingredients
Unsalted butter: Adds richness and moisture to the cake, resulting in a tender texture and rich flavour. It also helps to create a soft crumb and contributes to the cake’s overall richness.
Granulated sugar: Sweetens the cake and contributes to its tenderness by tenderizing the gluten in the flour.
Eggs: Act as a binder in the cake batter, helping to hold the ingredients together and provide structure.
Vanilla extract: Adds flavour to the cake, enhancing its overall taste and aroma.
Buttermilk: Adds moisture and tenderness to the cake, while providing a subtle tangy flavour. Its acidity also reacts with the baking soda to help leaven the cake and create a light and fluffy texture. Use sour cream as a substitute for buttermilk.
Cream cheese: Is the main ingredient in the glaze, adding a rich and tangy flavour. It provides a smooth and creamy texture to the glaze, making it easy to spread over the cake.
Powdered sugar: Is used to sweeten the cream cheese glaze while also providing a smooth and creamy texture.
Chocolate eggies and Spring themed edible sprinkles: These decorative elements add a festive touch to the cake, especially for Easter. They add bursts of chocolate flavour and a fun, colourful appearance, making the cake visually appealing. You can use other sort of chocolate eggs available.
How to make Easter bundt cake
STEP 1 – PREPARE THE BATTER FOR VANILLA BUNDT CAKE
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), middle rack position. If you are using Home Hardware Mosaic Non-Stick Fluted Cake Pan , no need to grease the pan. Otherwise, grease and flour a standard 10-inch bundt pan.
In a large mixing bowl, with a handheld electric mixer, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and creamy. It takes about 3–4 minutes.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract and set the bowl aside. In another medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet batter, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Scrape down all the excess of the batter with Home Hardware Mosaic Silicone spatula.
STEP 2 – SCOOP THE BATTER IN BUNDT CAKE PAN AND BAKE
Using an ice cream scoop, scoop the batter evenly into the prepared Mosaic Non-Stick Fluted Cake Pan and spread it evenly with a silicone spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven 350F (175 °C) for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert it onto Home Hardware MOSAIC Expandable Baking Cooling Rack to cool completely.
STEP 3 – PREPARE CREAM CHEESE GLAZE
In a medium bowl, with a handheld mixer, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until all is well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, and whisk with Home Hardware MOSAIC Silicone Whisk with scraper until the glaze reaches your desired consistency. It should be thick, yet pourable consistency.
STEP 4 – ASSEMBLE THE EASTER BUNDT CAKE
Once the cake has cooled completely, place it on a presentable cake stand from Home Hardware KOPPERS HOME Marble & Wood Round Cake Stand & pour the cream cheese glaze over the top of the bundt cake.
Garnish with Easter themed sprinkles and place chocolate candies (eggies) on top of the cream cheese glaze. Slice the bundt cake in 1 – 1 1/2 inch thick slices and serve on dessert plates from Home Hardware BRILLIANT Urban White Porcelain Set.

How to store Vanilla Bundt Cake
Room Temperature – If you plan to consume the cake within 1 day, it can be stored at room temperature. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Refrigeration – If you want to extend the shelf life of the cake, store it in the refrigerator. Because the cake is glazed with cream cheese frosting, it’s best to place the cake in an airtight container before refrigerating. The cake can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days.
Storing the cake without the cream cheese glaze – Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack before storing it. This prevents condensation from forming inside the container, which could make the cake soggy.
Once the cake is completely cooled, wrap the cake tightly in plastic wrap (this helps prevent the cake from drying out and keeps it moist) or place the cake in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, or freeze it (instructions below).
Freezing without the cream cheese glaze– If you want to store the cake for longer periods, you can freeze it. I don’t recommend freezing the cake with the cream cheese glaze on it. Rather, wrap the non- glazed cake tightly in plastic wrap, followed by aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. Alternatively, you can slice the cake and wrap individual slices for easier thawing. The cake can be frozen for up to 2–3 months. Once the cake is thawed, you can pour the cream cheese glaze onto it and decorate.
Thawing – When you’re ready to enjoy the cake, allow it to thaw at room temperature if it’s been frozen. If the cake was refrigerated, you can let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving. Follow the cream cheese glazing instructions.
Expert Tips
Use room temperature ingredients: Bring the butter, eggs, and buttermilk to room temperature before starting the recipe. Room temperature ingredients blend more easily, resulting in a smoother batter and a more evenly baked cake.
Measure ingredients accurately: Use a kitchen scale to accurately measure the ingredients, especially the flour. This recipe is provided in US customary and metric measurement. Too much flour can result in a dense and dry cake, while too little can cause the cake to collapse. Precise measurements are key to achieving the perfect texture.
Do not overmix the batter: Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined. Overmixing can develop the gluten in the flour, resulting in a dense and tough cake. Mix until there are no visible streaks of flour, but avoid overmixing to ensure a tender crumb.
Cool the cake properly: Allow the cake to cool in the bundt pan for about 10–15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. Cooling the cake properly helps it retain moisture and prevents it from collapsing.
Prepare the glaze consistency: For the cream cheese glaze, adjust the amount of milk to achieve pourable consistency. If the glaze is too thick, add a little more milk. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar. The glaze should be smooth and pourable, but not too runny.
Chill the cake for firm glaze: If the room temperature is warm, consider chilling the cake in the refrigerator for a short time after glazing to allow the cream cheese frosting to set and firm up. This will prevent the glaze from sliding off the cake when serving.
